Let me continue my story.
Now I’m working in HCL Poland (it will be 2 years soon) and will tell you more later about my current position.
I was working for different companies and always was looking for something better. Later I will explain, how many companies I tried, and how is looking job interview for IT support position.
Topic for today – IG Poland. I did interview 2 times, the same position, the same questions and recruitment steps.
First time i tried in March 2019. First interview was with recruiter (30 minutes), next one in the office – 1 hour (checking technical skills). And last one with Project Manager. Ok, first 2 steps were easy, for technical questions I answered about 70% questions for sure and passed technical interview. Interview with Manager was to check my soft skills and teamwork.
Feedback was like this: you have good technical skills but you don’t fit to the team. Very strange, but they said, that I will be in the database if they will have same position soon, they will contact me again. In that case recruiter was looking for me and offered to apply this position.
In December 2019 I found the same job offer – Help Desk Analyst IG Poland Kraków . As I understand later, somebody grew up in this company, and this position was free again. Now – recruiter different (internal), and Team Leader – guy, which was working in HCL also (for my project). So, I was feeling much better and was thinking, that he will be on this interview (at least they announced that). Also 2nd step was easier and faster (online test).
Second interview in Jabuary 2020 was with the same Manager. I was prepared, because they had the same questions. So I found precise answers and was much much better, than 9 months ago.
Can you believe, that feedback for now – not enough technical skills. For example, in Active Directory, SCCM, virtualization. Same guy was giving completely different feedback 9 months ago (I cannot believe, that he doesn’t remember me). And I was rejected again – they asked me to save my CV in database again.
Let me share also list of questions on this interview (if you will decide to go there):
What is IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, Proxy, ping, tracert, Active Directory, SCCM, virtualization, outlook issues, how to turn off multiple PC’s for the one time, Bomgar, ServiceNow applications. How to check PC runtime, PC no boot and so on. What is the main different between VPN and Proxy. Between Network Drives and Cloud Services.
Also classic questions: teamwork, angry client, the most complicated case at your work. What you are usually do at daily work. It’s not all, but it’s enough to be ready.
My feedback about recruitment process and wasted time.
I’m using completely the same applications at my work for remote connection, for tickets tracking, receiving awards from time to time, improving myself, I’m not average agent. I have more than 3 years experience for this position. I can start w/o any training.
I think some personal reasons or they looking for Polish candidate (yes, in some companies my CV was rejected only for this reason, Polish friends applied with completely the same experience, and all of them were invited to the interview, but not me). Much better experience I have with foreign Managers or recruiters. But it’s different topic. I will tell you more later 🙂
