My first job in Poland

  • by

After finishing Ukrainian University in 2011 (Master’s Degree) I tried to find some job in Ukraine. During my studies I was working also – some projects, internet sales, copy-writing and etc. Nothing related to my studies (Open-pit Mining).

I visited universities in Germany in 2009 (with DAAD exchange program) and all the time I was thinking how to move there. I started to learn German in 2010, but it was unsuccessful try. It’s hard for me to come back and start it again. But it is still one of my targets.

Lets go little bit forward. I came in Poland in 2013, but started to work only in 2016. I will tell you more about University later.

Now about my first job. My salary was 1700-1800 zloty net (about 500$), and I paid for my room (lived with roommate) about 100$. My job was so far away and everyday I was spending more than 1 hour only to go there. It was October – November 2016 and the weather was awful that time. I was waking up at 5 o’clock, and almost every time I was coming to work first.

Now about work – guy, who hired me, was co-owner with small part of investments. He was really good guy and supporting me all the time. But real owner was aggressive and disrespectful for all employees. Some girls were crying after talking with him. Also few times he pushed me and was talking really bad.

Job was not so bad (international sales, advertisements, supporting Ukrainian/Russian customers and so on). It was a list of registered users and I tried to reach everyone and asked if they need any products (we were selling the toys and clothes for kids). It was agreement, that I will do only this job. I tried a lot, but it was really hard as in Ukraine they had like 2 big customers and all the sales passed through them. It was no possibility to find new customers and I was just waiting time and useless for company (for example, in Europe they had a lot of sales that time).

But it was not a main problem. Owner started to give me extra job (my contract (“umowa zlecenie” – paid by hours) wasn’t good, but I had possibility to leave job in any moment) – for example, collect/sort orders, work with loader. I cannot say it was really complicated, but we agreed, that I will do only PC job, not physical.

One day – November 11th 2016 I had job interview. I was at the party day before and was not feeling good next day. I had free day as it was National holiday. When I came there, interview was really easy and I received answer by e-mail, I was accepted. But this answer was in “Spam” and I noticed only few weeks later. It was corporation – and it was a new project started in January 2017.

So I resigned from my first job after 2 Months, yes I was even crying little bit as I met some friends there. They were like family for me (doesn’t matter, that I was working too short).

It was starting of better life. To be continuous…
